The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a popular personality test that is based on Carl Jung’s theory of psychological types. The test consists of a series of questions that aim to determine an individual’s preferred way of thinking, feeling, and behaving. There are 16 unique personality types that are identified by the MBTI, each one is special in their own way and represented by a four-letter code that describes a person’s dominant traits. Here is a brief description of each of the 16 personality types:
ISTJ
- ISTJ – The Inspector. ISTJs are practical, responsible, and dependable. They value tradition and order, and often make decisions based on facts and data. They tend to be logical and systematic, and are often described as “serious” and “reserved.” ISTJs are naturally orderly and are inclined to create a stable and predictable environment. They are reliable and trustworthy, and they respect and follow rules and regulations. They are also efficient and have good organizational skills.
ISFJ
- ISFJ – The Protector. ISFJs are caring, supportive, and sensitive to the needs of others. They are practical and value harmony and stability. They tend to be loyal and dedicated, and often make decisions based on their feelings and personal values. They are often described as “quiet” and “gentle,” and they are highly aware of the needs of others. They are sensitive to other people’s feelings and are naturally inclined to help them. They are good listeners, and they tend to be good team players.
INFJ
- INFJ – The Counselor. INFJs are intuitive, empathetic, and compassionate. They are idealistic and value authenticity and deeper meaning. They tend to be private and reflective, and often make decisions based on their inner vision and values. They have strong insight into people and situations, and often have a sense of a greater purpose in life. They are sensitive to the emotions of others and are naturally inclined to help them. They are often described as “introverted” and “idealistic” and tend to be good problem solvers.
INTJ
- INTJ – The Mastermind. INTJs are analytical, strategic, and independent. They value competence and efficiency and tend to be confident and assertive. They often make decisions based on their rational analysis. They tend to be natural leaders and have a strong sense of independence. They are highly analytical and have a talent for strategic planning. They are often described as “introverted” and “driven,” and they are naturally inclined to create new and innovative solutions.
ISTP
- ISTP – The Craftsman. ISTPs are practical, action-oriented, and logical. They are independent and value freedom and flexibility. They tend to be reserved and adaptable, and often make decisions based on their instincts and direct experience. They are naturally inclined to be hands-on problem solvers and enjoy figuring out how things work. They tend to be comfortable with risk and uncertainty, and are often unruffled by stress and emergencies. They are not big on expressing emotions and prefer to keep a low profile.
ISFP
- ISFP – The Composer. ISFPs are sensitive, creative, and practical. They are flexible and value authenticity and aesthetics. They tend to be reserved and spontaneous, and often make decisions based on their feelings and personal values. They are naturally inclined to be creative and are often drawn to the arts. They are sensitive to the needs of others and tend to be more attuned to the emotions of the people around them. They are not big on expressing themselves verbally and prefer to show their feelings through actions.
INFP
- INFP – The Healer. INFPs are idealistic, empathetic, and compassionate. They are open-minded and value harmony and personal growth. They tend to be private and adaptable, and often make decisions based on their personal values and feelings. They are inclined to be sensitive to the needs of others and tend to be highly empathetic. They have a strong inner values and beliefs that guide their actions. They tend to be reserved and have a strong desire to understand the world around them.
INTP
- INTP – The Architect. INTPs are analytical, strategic, and logical. They are independent and value competence and efficiency. They tend to be private and reflective, and often make decisions based on their rational analysis. They are natural problem solvers and enjoy analyzing complex systems and theories. They tend to be reserved and have a strong desire to understand the world around them. They have strong analytical skills, and enjoy exploring complex ideas and theories.
ESTJ
- ESTJ – The Supervisor. ESTJs are practical, responsible, and dependable. They are logical and value tradition and order. They tend to be assertive and confident, and often make decisions based on facts and data. They tend to be natural leaders and are inclined to be responsible and dependable. They are also inclined to be efficient and have good organizational skills. They tend to be decisive and enjoy taking charge in a situation.
ESFJ
- ESFJ – The Provider. ESFJs are caring, supportive, and sensitive to the needs of others. They are practical and value harmony and stability. They tend to be loyal and dedicated, and often make decisions based on their feelings and personal values. They are naturally inclined to be social and enjoy being around people. They are good listeners and have a strong sense of responsibility to others. They have a strong desire to take care of others and tend to be sensitive to the needs of others.
ENTP
- ENTP – The Visionary. ENTPs are innovative, resourceful, and enthusiastic. They value independence and originality and tend to be outgoing and confident. They often make decisions based on their intuition and enjoy exploring new ideas and possibilities. They are natural problem solvers and are highly analytical. They are inclined to be curious, energetic and enjoy debating and discussing ideas. They tend to be very flexible and can adapt easily to changing circumstances. They are good at seeing the big picture and tend to be good leaders. They are also good at seeing multiple perspectives and able to understand complex issues.
ENTJ
- ENTJ – The Field Marshal. ENTJs are analytical, strategic, and independent. They value competence and efficiency and tend to be assertive and confident in their decision making. They are natural leaders and have a strong desire to achieve success. They are confident and assertive, and enjoy taking charge in a situation. They have a strong ability to think critically and strategically, and they have a talent for motivating and inspiring others.
ESTP
- ESTP – The Dynamo. ESTPs are practical, action-oriented, and logical. They value freedom and flexibility, and often make decisions based on their immediate experience and likes/dislikes. They tend to be outgoing and sociable, and enjoy taking risks and living in the moment. They are natural problem solvers and enjoy figuring out how things work. They are not afraid of confrontation and are comfortable in high-pressure situations.
ESFP
- ESFP – The Performer. ESFPs are outgoing, spontaneous, and practical. They value excitement and enjoy being the center of attention. They tend to be outgoing and sociable, often making decisions based on their immediate experience and likes/dislikes. They tend to be carefree, and enjoy living in the moment. They also tend to be very sensitive to the needs of others and have strong interpersonal skills.
ENFP
- ENFP – The Champion. ENFPs are enthusiastic, imaginative, and compassionate. They are idealistic and value personal growth and authenticity. They tend to be curious and open-minded, often making decisions based on their intuition and feelings. They tend to be very empathetic and supportive, but also have a need for independence. They are often creative and enjoy exploring new ideas.
ENFJ
- ENFJ – The Teacher. ENFJs are intuitive, empathetic, and compassionate. They are idealistic and value authenticity and deeper meaning. They tend to be assertive and dedicated, and often make decisions based on their inner vision and values. They tend to be natural leaders and desire to make a positive impact on others. They have a good balance of thinking and feeling and able to see things from multiple perspectives. They are very supportive, caring and put others needs before theirs.
